Are you looking to start or develop a career in planning, data analysis or local government? This is an excellent opportunity to join Cotswold District Council's Planning Policy and Infrastructure Team at an exciting time for planning and local government in Gloucestershire.
As our Planning Policy Technician (Monitoring), you will play a key role in collecting, analysing and managing the data that underpins planning policy and decision-making across the district. Working alongside a supportive and experienced team of planning professionals, you will help monitor housing and employment development, maintain planning monitoring systems and contribute to the production of important documents such as the Authority Monitoring Report and Infrastructure Funding Statement. The role also provides opportunities to support Local Plan preparation, policy research and evidence gathering.
This is a varied role that combines office-based analytical work with site visits across the district, offering an excellent foundation for anyone interested in planning, geography, data analysis or the built environment. You will gain valuable experience of the planning system, develop technical and analytical skills, and contribute to shaping the future of one of the country's most distinctive districts.
What you need:
- Experience of working with data, including collecting, analysing and presenting information accurately.
- Strong numeracy, literacy and IT skills, including the ability to use spreadsheets, databases and write reports.
- An interest in planning, development, geography, place-making or related subjects.
- The ability to work proactively, manage your own workload and meet deadlines.
- A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes.
- Agile working allowing a mix of home and office working
